Thoughts for another day
Nov.
2, 2012.
Today's verse: 1 Ch. 15:13. For because you bore it not [as God directed] at the first, the Lord
our God broke forth upon us—because we did not seek Him in the way He ordained.
(Amplified
Bib. – copy. Ack.)
(Pls. read the above before you read
further. Thanks)
God has specific ways in which He wants
things to be done, particularly when it concerns things that relate to Him and
His work. You would know that God gave
accurate descriptions on how to make the Tabernacle, The Ark of the Covenant,
the Priestly Vestments, etc. The details
are so minute and may I say, tedious that sometimes when you read them in the
Bible, you tend to gloss them over because they seem irrelevant in the context
of the New Covenant God made with us through the Blood of Christ. But it doesn't take away from the fact that
God's instructions regarding Him and His things are complete and
non-negotiable.
If you recall, God also gave very
detailed instructions on building the Temple in Jerusalem and they were adhered
to fully which is why at the dedication, God's Presence so filled the Temple,
that the priests there couldn't minister. Similarly God gave Moses specific instruction
on the movement of the Ark of the Covenant which could be done only by the Kohathites,
Num. 4:15, and not by anyone else. When
David first tried to bring the Ark to Jerusalem, he didn't adhere to God's
instruction, yet he was stunned that God struck Uzzah when he tried to steady the
Ark which he was not supposed to touch under express instructions from
God. Therefore, David made it a point to
obey the LORD God's instructions while bringing the Ark to Jerusalem and it was
done exactly as required.
This doesn't concern me you might say;
but I tell you it does. God wants every
person who belongs to Him and who is called by His Name to adhere to His
instructions which are there in the Bible.
We may fall while keeping the instructions time and again, but it
doesn't mean we don't keep them. It
simply means that we get on our knees, seek His forgiveness and move on. We have the instructions and commandments in
the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we must take them to heart and if we do as God
has directed, I believe there will never be a point of time in our lives when
we will be vulnerable for His mighty Hand will be strongly upon us to defend
and lead.
