Thoughts for another day

Aug. 9, 2011

Today's verse: Ps. 31:8. And You have not given me into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a broad place. (The Amplified Bible – copyright acknowledged)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Confidence in God is what we need to have.  But do we do have that in our lives?  When even a small problem comes, we scream, yell and ask for help.  When a disease strikes; oh my, some of us do as though it's the end of the world; when we go out of our homes, we check each lock to make sure it's well and truly locked and so we do and then say we have confidence in God.

What kind of a confidence is this?  Nothing but a mockery of the fact that we're called by His Name; and but for that we're not in any way aligned to Him, both in our thinking and in our working.  In our Scripture today, there's confidence in the psalmist, David, when He tells the Lord that he hasn't been surrendered to the enemy and the Lord has also kept him safe.  David does this even as he is in the midst of a terrible time which we discover as he runs away, first of all from Saul and then from Absalom.   His Words are beautiful and his trust in God is worth emulating for when God sees such trust, He relents from the harshness of the trial.

Today, I was reading a testimony of a woman whose 13 year daughter suffered from Auto Immune Encephalitis, a dreaded disease and not easily diagnosable because it's discovered recently.  In her own words, even before any diagnosis began, she says, 'if God has brought us to it He will carry us through.'  And in time, this belief of hers opened miraculous ways in which doctors with the know of the disease came to treat the girl and eventually she recovered completely.  So my friend, if you're desperate with a nagging problem, just don't take your eyes off God, for in time, He will heal you, not handing you to your enemies and make you whole.
