Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: Ps. 147: 10, 11. He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
When I was fresh and just into a career, I read the adage that if you want to reach the top, hang on to a rising star. The proponents of this theory suggested that if you did that, you would rise just as flotsam attached to a helium balloon rose when it did. Another maxim was if you show you're strong then none can put you down. There was also this 'make yourself so strong that even God will not be able to knock you down!' Ah, they seemed so good and so proper then, but extremely laughable now.
Today, years later, being jolted by the Almighty from a budding future by a health issue and through various things He did with me, I laugh at what the world has to offer, because it has nothing worth anybody's while. Just look at the filth spewed out by the denizens of the planet and you'll quickly realize that it's nothing but a bag of air. Take the plight of the most powerful country on earth, the US; it's reeling under the debt trap and knows not which way to turn; this despite having some of the finest brains working in the government and the might of the largest corporations in the world. And yet again, we realize that for the Lord, the strength of created things is as nothing.
In the cacophony of human might which in a way reduces God's being to nothing, He yet stands tall. I remember Ps. 14:2 which says, 'The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.' He laughs at the might of the mighty for He can render it to zero in an instant; just a simple stroke and the mighty man is reduced to a vegetable. But what delights God, is the one who is on bent knee imploring Him always. Yes, God delights in that one and His mercy flows to Him. Mercy which flowed toward Bartimaeus when he screamed 'Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me' and gave him new life. It is the life giving mercy of the Lord that can suddenly change the situation of man and make him who was nothing, great.
