Thoughts for another day

May 10, 2011

Today's verse: Mt. 10:19. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

St Peter calls us priests belonging to the royal household of God. As priests, we're obliged to the Priestly commission Jesus gave us which is to go the whole world and proclaim the Good News. To most Christians, the Great Commission is a matter of personal interpretation which means, they're comfortable not doing it; rather giving tithes to the thousands of Ministries which have sprung up, which announce you can do your part in the Great Commission by giving to them and sending them. They make us believe this and in a way free us from our task of Proclamation and we quickly forget that Jesus has told us to "Go proclaim" not send 'someone to proclaim.' If you ask me whether what these Ministries say is right or wrong, I'll choose not to answer but just direct you to Matt. 28:19 and let God's Spirit impinge your actions. But this I'll say, even if you give a tithe to them because they enrich your Spiritual growth, you still have to go.

For those who understand this well, the key question is how do you go and how do you proclaim. For both I'll say: Wait on the Lord. At His time, He will send you and you will then go in His power. When you're before a crowd, do not fret what you will say or even when they deliver you up to authorities for the sake of His Name, do not be fretful of what to say for God will equip you with the content of your speech through His Holy Spirit.

Ministry is not a personal choice. While each one of us has to proclaim, our ministries are built by the Lord. There is no point in rushing them as I've learnt and one cannot even say that there is a burn out because when the Holy Spirit is in it, there cannot be a burn-out. There may be low points which God uses to teach us His ways, but there will be immense joy even in that for God sends us His peace and joy in abundance and not only that but God equips us with erudite speech to stun even the likes of kings and presidents. So wait on Him and realize your peculiar goal in Proclamation of the Blessed Word. God bless you.
