Thoughts for another day

November 18, 2010

Today's verse: Ps. 145:16. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

The earth has billions and billions of life forms in addition to man and other animals. Flora and fauna of various kinds, the fishes in the sea and all the other life forms that are on the surface of the earth all live and need to be sustained. Every creature that has life has to be fed something that can ensure continuity of its life and the number of living things could well be a zillion which is innumerable if one may say. How can all of them be sustained?

They are able to live when the LORD God of the universe opens His hand and out of His hand comes the food and nurture for each living thing in a measure which will satisfy that life. Yes, God provides for each creature, whether it is a cactus plant in the Siberian desert or a little fish hiding behind corals at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. You know, God is at this very moment aware of everything, both living and non-living that constitute the ingredients of this earth and He provides for each living being. God is so immense that He can and He does provide for each thing and He doesn't leave any life that needs food, high and dry. Sometimes we do see hunger and deprivation among wild animals and for that matter, even man but that is God's way of controlling life. They perish and we don't really understand their purpose of coming to life, but everything fulfils God's purpose.

God's enormity and power can be seen in the way the creation operates. From age to age it is He who reigns on this earth. Those who are born die and the dead rejuvenate the surface of the earth and prepare it for those who are to come. Today's graveyard can become the fertile land of tomorrow and so on. Each thing that God does, though seemingly not too good for us, works to His perfection and grabs within itself the perfect will of God. Though immense is the need of things to sustain Creation, God can and will feed everything that lives for it is He who gives life and therefore He will sustain it and if we have any doubt, we just need to look at the butterflies of the field, they are truly sustained, by His Grace; none else.
