Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: Lev.2:13b. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
From the time, God made us on earth, He makes covenants with us and He operates by the rules of the covenant. Even if we forget the covenant, God remembers it and He abides by it. For example, in the covenant of the rainbow which God made with Noah, He has kept till date and though there may be floods in various parts of the earth, it will never be like that at the time of Noah destroying all that has life.
God made a covenant with the Jews through the hands and service of Moses His servant and through that covenant, He established the people as His Own in the Land of Canaan, rather His Own inheritance. He brought them out with an iron hand and an outstretched arm, being tough on their enemies and established them in the Promised Land, destroying their enemies there too. He kept the conditions of the covenant all along but they denied and didn't keep them. In our Scripture today, God is asking His people to not leave the 'salt of the Covenant' out of the grain offering, which in essence is that people never forget the flavor or the main ingredients of the covenant God made with them and always adhere to it in their offering before Him which they made regularly so they wouldn't forget their part of the covenant. It required that they obey and listen to Him all the time; but did they do that? No, they always rebelled against God and did what was contrary to the tenets of the covenant, so much so that God had to finally cause their destruction throwing them out of the Promised Land.
Now too the Lord has made a covenant with us and according to that covenant, we His children are redeemed and raised to eternal life and our part is also to share His Kingdom and bliss with others. This implies that, the condition on our part is to believe and share the Good News with the nations because God first of all wants that we share His riches and His Kingdom and that we cause all the lost children of Eve to come closer to Him and also partake of His goodness. Are we keeping our part of the covenant? Are we poised to be raised into His bosom because we are doing our bit in keeping the covenant God made in the blood of His only begotten Son? We need to check and see where we are in this covenant with God and check whether we have kept the 'salt of the covenant' in our offerings of prayer, devotion and fasting.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
