Thoughts for another day

April 28, 2010

Today's verse: Is. 59:2. But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

The barrier between God and man has always been sin. In Adam’s sin, man was separated from God and the communion he had with God before this was destroyed by his disobedience. Only after the coming of Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection, this breech was bridged for eternal life. On earth we still live in the same condition as before except for the fact that redemption for eternal life is already made. As to improvement of life in this world, it depends on us as to what kind of communication we want with our God.

If we are to have the full communion with God then we must be holy before Him. Some days ago, we dwelt on God asking us to be holy like Him and this is simply so that He work marvelously in us. When we get into prayer, God hears immediately but we do not receive any answer because of our sins. As our Scripture says today, our sins separate us and He hides His face from us so that it seems He doesn’t hear. There are many in this world to whom this may sound a little weird. Besides, we also see sinners prospering and the righteous suffering. They can easily question the premise of our Scripture, but suffice it for me to say, God is Sovereign. Who are we to question Him? As far as we are concerned, we are to follow His dictates and obey His commands to the best we can.

In this also there is a lesson for us; that we remain in a condition of holiness and that He look at our efforts in being holy and reward us. Then will we see our prayers being answered and then will we know that our God is a ‘prayer answering’ God when He sends us His manifold blessings and keeps our lives in tune to His high calling.
