Thoughts for another day

Aug. 14, 2009

Today's verse: Eze. 12:28. Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Haven’t you wondered why when you have held on to a Word from God, you’ve not had any answer though you waited and waited? I have and just as a child would sulk when he or she was refused something, I too sulked with my Father in heaven, very upset that He had not granted me my request.

But eventually, I realized that He did grant my request, maybe not in the way I wanted, but certainly the net effect was the same. God has told us that we should ask Him in prayer whatever we need and He will grant it to us. That promise of God stands even today. There is nothing God says which He doesn’t do. That is because when He says a thing, He means it and when He means it, He does it. That is why we need to hold on to His promises.

God is patient and merciful. God would sure hold our requests in His hands and send the answer, but many times, we aren’t ready to receive from His hand or perhaps if we were to receive that which we asked, we would not be able to hold it and for some reason which we wouldn’t know, it would lead to a major disaster later. Sometimes, we don’t get what we asked but something else and that is because we are not able to see beyond the immediate future, whereas God has seen it all and having seen it, He grants that something else which displeases us; but in the future we realize that what He did was the best.

In our verse today, God very clearly says that He will act. It is a great reassurance for us who wait for His action time and again and we will rejoice when He does act for then, we will know that we are His children to whom His promises hold true.
