Thoughts for another day

Aug. 13, 2009

Today's verse: Mk. 4:40. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

I write this under divine inspiration and also in the context of the pandemic, ‘swine flu’.

You child of God on earth, who’s seeing the pandemic everywhere and fretting whether you will be a victim, don’t fear; be of good courage and learn from Him. For NOTHING SHALL HAPPEN TO YOU. When Jesus said the Words of our above verse, He was aghast at the lack of faith in His disciples. They’d been with Him, moved with Him, yet didn’t trust Him to be in control of the situation, perhaps because He was asleep. The same story is seen time and again among us. We’ve seen God’s action in our lives yet, run scared when faced with a bit of difficulty, particularly if it’s concerning life and death.

In the lives of believers, the operative word is ‘FAITH’. We believe and that’s why we’re believers. Every Grace of God is sent to us because of our faith. Of course, we needn’t boast of our faith for that too is a gift of God. And it’s faith (or belief) that delivers us from the toughest situations. Faith has the ability to do the impossible. The Bible says, ‘Faith is expecting what we hope for and perceiving what we cannot see as real!’ (Heb. 11:1). Have faith and you’ll see the impossible. Jesus Himself said (Mt. 17:20), ‘If you have faith, the size of a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain to be moved and it will be moved.’ Jesus would’ve perhaps demonstrated it but moving the mountain may have caused problems so didn’t do it, but yes, He cursed a fig tree and it withered.

Faith in God is great. When you hold it up, God’s awesome power starts operating. It’s able to bring into existence that which doesn’t exist for e.g., the home you’ve always desired. It removes hurdles that block your path e.g. the wall of Jericho. It quickens the cells and destroys the germs therein or even the germs in the air; take Peter’s mother in law, who just by His touch was healed or even the woman with the issue of blood! Faith achieves much and is able to see the invisible. Imagine that thing in your vision and it becomes a reality. To speak about myself, I have seen a huge Ministry for myself; yet today, I see nothing…not even one person with me. Frankly, I see the exact opposite, but I remember Joseph, he too experienced the exact opposite. But what’s ordained by God happens. So too with each one of us. And again the operative word is ‘faith’.
If you or one of your own is unwell due to some flu or swine flu, don’t worry. Keep faith as your shield and God will do the rest. Just pray and hold the community in prayer.
