Thoughts for another day

Dec. 20, 2007

Today's verse: 2 Cor. 10:5. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Sometimes in reading the Bible and perusing verses such as today’s verse, I am amazed at the statements made by the writers of the various books of the Bible. Particularly, if you take the verse as above I wonder, what am I, a weak, frail human being, filled with the mores and decay of the world, be able to do what is said i.e. demolishing arguments and pretensions raised against the knowledge of God… But the Spirit of God within me raises His voice and assures me that it is possible. He urges me to read the latter part of the verse i.e. take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And He tells me, that is the key.

For a moment forget atheists, take our own Christian people, you may find someone saying, brother, where is God? I don’t believe in Him or His ways, etc. etc. We can’t even contest this person, so how can we demolish arguments and every pretension raised against Him? But then let us do as the Holy Spirit tells us: Take this straight to Jesus making it obedient to Him. Speak to Him and ask Him what to do. And believe you me He will do the needful. God works in many unseen, unheard of ways and we may not be familiar with them, but it doesn’t mean that He doesn’t work. As an example, do you feel the earth rotate? You don’t, but you know it does. Similar is the work of God. Right now even as you are reading this and you have asked Him for something, He is working in giving it to you according to the measure of your faith and sure as there is a morning after the night, you will see it. Remember, you may be weak, but when you add His power by melding in Him, everything is possible.

The challenge is in taking these thoughts to Him; all of your thoughts, not only a few. That is what I strive to do and really, I have seen the way things turn out. A few days before, a situation loomed up which seemed devastating and then I cry to God and tell Him. A few days later, I am laughing at the situation. What seemed to be a big bang, turned into a whimper! I would therefore, urge you my friends, allow the habit of taking your every thought captive to Jesus Christ. No matter what it is – good or bad and He will tie it with a golden ribbon and radiate His power through it.
