Thoughts for another day

Dec. 12, 2007

Today's verse: Rom. 12:12. Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

We looked at the faith aspect yesterday and before. Today, we look at the three aspects in the above verse, holding faith as the basic fabric of our lives. The first is rejoicing in hope: Rejoicing in normal times is easy, but rejoicing in troubled times is very very difficult. We need to lean on the faith God has put in our hearts. Knowing that we have Him beside us (He said, ‘I am with you always’) and being aware of His might and power; and also that He will rescue us from all our problems, then we know that we rejoice not in vain.

Next, is being patient in trouble. When trouble hits you, not always will you be given a warning of its intensity. Yet, we need to face it. It what makes a person tough and brings about the best in him. There is a saying, ‘the tough get going when the going get tough’…how true it is. Even more so, since our hope is in the Lord, who can blow away our troubles, we rest assured in going through it; thus our patience moves up. So, you see, even in trouble we can be calm; because our eyes are fixed on the Lord.

The third, is Praying. As for me, Prayer is the anchor on which my ship rests. For it forces the hand of the Almighty to work. You know, our belief in Jesus sets us apart as a people dear to the Lord. Now when we pray, God’s heart is moved and He answers our prayer. But often, God will check our belief. That’s the time we need to pray even more fervently. And believe me, soon, very soon, God will move in your favor because it is impossible for God not to answer prevailing prayer. In fact, it gives Him a reason to bypass the accuser’s (satan’s) charges.

In following the dictates of today’s verse, remember that at all times, He is shining His face on you and He is there to solve your every situation. So listen and do it; it will bring glory to Him.
