Thoughts for another day
Dec. 11, 2007
Today's verse: Heb. 10:39. But we are not among those who shrink back and so are lost, but among those who have faith and so are saved. (RSV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
Today’s verse is a statement of rejoicing, particularly the first part concerning shrinking back. To be able to utter this requires a great Grace from God and to live it, is a high point of life. Because, I must say, backsliding and going against the ways of God is a way of life with most of us, particularly with me.
The world always draws us to itself as I has mentioned in an earlier TFAD. Sometimes, rather, many times, we are drawn into the world fascinated by its allure and sheen. Not that we are not adhering to our Father, but you see the flesh that our spirits abide in, is weak, and drags our spirits into the muck it wallows in. Gradually, as the pull of the world becomes stronger, our spirits somehow, forget our larger purpose with God. However, if our inclination is still with God, we grieve, wondering what we are to do, for while, in a way our hearts are with God, our minds are enslaved by the world.
But let me tell you good tidings as given by the Word. It is faith that will come to our rescue seeing us through the dark clouds of moral decay. And let me also tell you that God it is, who will ensure that the scales of sin fall off us as we keep our faith in His Son, for His Word says that ‘He is faithful who has called you and He will also do it.’ 1 Thess. 5:24. My friend I thank God for this assurance He has placed in my heart. I am also grateful to Him for putting this thought in my mind this morning, when He said, His Righteousness never diminishes and His is the Righteousness that you and I imbibe when we believe in His Son. When the Lord looks upon us, He sees not our depravity but only that which His Son has won for us – Righteousness and glory! Therefore, we are saved and will enjoy eternal life. But letting that not remain so, let us repent and move to Him. He will surely quicken our spirits and purify them for they are to perceive Him some day.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
