Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: 1 Cor. 2:12. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
A Christian must always bear in mind the gift that has been received in becoming a believer first and then a follower of Jesus Christ. First of all, we receive the Spirit of God. That in itself is a big gift; for everything that comes to us, comes through the Holy Spirit: Might, Power and even the ability to cry ‘Jesus Christ’ come through the Holy Spirit and our very lives are a breath of the Spirit.
And in our verse today, we are told that through this Spirit, we come to know the things that are freely given to us of God. The first thing is our salvation, which has been secured by the death of our beloved Lord on the cross. It has ensured that we will enjoy eternal life with our Father in His Kingdom.
We must also remember that life itself is of God. And in this world life is all. There can be nothing greater than life and it is only given by Him. No human being can give us even a second more than God has sent our way. Then again, His Grace, which comes to us unworthy people, is sufficient to wreck the miseries the evil one sends us and brings about victory.
Apart from these great gifts, we also have received liberty in Christ and we are free to live in the Christly life, which was referred to as ‘The Way’ by the early Christians. We have also received the confidence of living a good Christian life. Because when we believe that our Father is with us and supplies us all we need, we will never lack. A kind of comfort sets in whenever despair knocks and when we are doubtful except of course if we doubt Him. If you know this then realize, that it is the Spirit which enlightens you and it is the Spirit who will lead you.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
