Thoughts for another day
June 21, 2007
Today's verse: Amos 4:13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
When you think of all the problems you go through and the difficulties you face in life, your mind is overwhelmed by the magnitude of your adverse situation. Questions arise about the reason and purpose for the creation of man, frail man, subject to the whims and fury of nature. You know, a few days ago I was reflecting on the same and when I looked at the mango tree outside my window, I said to myself, ‘look at that tree, unless somebody cuts it, it will easily outlast me!’ We humans who are endowed with such intelligence are so frail if you really look at it, won’t you agree?
But, I want to tell you something. We, the disciples of Jesus, follow a God who makes the statement in today’s verse. He is all-powerful and mighty. He holds the winds in His hands and threads together the clouds bulging with billions of molecules of water, yet not too heavy to fall down! He declares His Word and it comes to be. Jesus, said, ‘PEACE. BE STILL’ and the mighty sea became quiet, lashed as it were by a mere Word. And my friend, holy one of God, Jesus Himself has given you the privilege of becoming Sons of God…Children of the Most High. A privilege worth far more than we can even think or imagine. By which we can partake of this awesome power of the Mighty One.
What then, should I be afraid of? What then, should clog my way or seem to be to be so big that I cannot see beyond. Well, I need to look up to Him. David said, I look up to the hills from whence my help comes. For in looking up, I move to bring down the gaze of the Almighty from the top which is able to crush the block in my path and still the storm round my feet. Trust Him my beloved, He will deliver. I am speaking to someone today who is completely overwhelmed by the problem you’ve encountered. Peace, I declare unto you, the peace of Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. You need nothing else even as you are released from the throes of misery. Only He has done it. Give Him alone all the glory.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
