Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: Amos 5:4 … Seek ye me, and ye shall live: (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
Life and death is in the hands of God and He alone can exercise this discretion. Many times in the Bible we see what God does with this property. Lazarus was dead. They had sought the Lord when he was alive but the Lord arrived after he died and was laid in the tomb, four days later. In the conversation between Jesus and Martha, Jn. 11:21-27, Martha is not seeking the Lord for life but adheres to her belief in the resurrection of the dead till Jesus tells her, ‘I AM the resurrection and the life.’
When Isaiah informs king Hezekiah that he will die (2 Kgs. 20:1 ff), he immediately turned his face towards God and sought Him. God granted him 15 more years of life. See, the power of life and death is in His hand. Never forget this. Even as I write, a colleague’s little daughter is on the threshold of death. But we have sought the Lord and truly the Lord will deliver, for he can quicken the senses of man even when the breath has ceased and the internal organs are damaged beyond repair – for God is the God of the impossible. He doesn’t know what ‘impossible’ means!
Seek Him my friend, whoever you are and wherever you are. He neither forsakes you nor turns His face from you. Because He loves you far too much to let any of your misdoings affect His Sovereign Parenthood. You have never treaded the boundaries of what you may call acceptability to God for He sets no boundaries. All He wants is that you come back. He it is who is telling you to seek Him for He knows that without Him you are dead. What does it take to seek Him? Nothing much except turning your face to Him and welcoming Him in your heart. Do it today, so you might live.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
