Thoughts for another day

January 11, 2007

Today's verse: Deut. 6:11,12. …when thou shalt have eaten and be full; Then beware lest thou forget the LORD… (KJV)

When the blessings of God are most upon our lives, it is time to carefully enhance our relationship with God. Beloved, when God sends the river of blessings on our lives, we are filled with them and we praise Him. Yet soon we tend to forget Him. Surprising? But true.

When in the tunnel of despair and hopelessness we cry out to God, He extends His hand and helps us rise from the sinking sand. While in the tunnel we pray and tell Him, ‘Lord if you only bring me out of this mess, I will do so and so for you…’ But no sooner than the Lord blows the dark clouds away, we forget His mercies. And do we do what we promised Him? Well, we even forget what we promised Him. I have seen this many many times and each time I marvel at the way in which we treat God.

What if we had a cancer and tell the doctor, ‘doctor operate on me and remove my cancer and I will pay you so much…’ And he does and declares us free of the cancer. Subsequently, will we forget to pay him? Then how do we forget to do what we promised to God? My friend we do not experience God fully, because we treat Him frivolously. We do not accord Him the respect He deserves and therefore, the Holy Spirit moves away from our lives!

Today, check back and see if you have been ungrateful and not kept your vows to God. Even now do it and you will be rewarded.
