Thoughts for another day
September 1, 2006
Today's verse: Eccl. 3:13. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. (KJV).
Everything that we do and everything we have is nothing but that, which flows from the merciful throne of God. The world has dullened our senses toward God. Its major task is to take us away from Him and instill its convoluted ways in our life and that is what they call ‘freedom’.
From time immemorial, man has tried to break the established path of God and prove there is no God. There are others who say, your own hands are god. You can do what you want in life with them. Many others have different notions. Some say that the path to God is through your work or the way you live. The Word of God tells us that we need to work and live in a right way before men, but it is no path to God. Rather, once you are with God, your life is changed and you tend to walk on His path (He is the way after all, Jn. 14:6), which leads to being right before men.
Everything is of God. My possessions and my life are His. Paul says, ‘What do you have, which you have not received?’ (1 Co. 4:7). There is nothing I came with into this world and there is nothing I will go with. Therefore, it cannot be mine. Even a grain of mud cannot be mine for I did not come to the world with it. Even my body is not mine for there is nothing that I can do to it. It grows automatically and I have nothing to do with it. If I am short there is nothing I can do to make myself tall, etc.
So my friend says the author of the Book of Ecclesiastes that we should enjoy the good that emerges from our labor for it is a gift of God. Brood not, for you have a God who is delighted to gift you with choice things. Look around and see the beauty He has spread before you and you will know that Yahweh God is your Provider and your Banner, Praise His Name.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
