Thoughts for another day
July 5, 2006
Today's verse: Romans 15:13. Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. (KJV).
As a Christian, follower of Jesus Christ, there are many treasures that we own. A clarification, not every treasure is in the physical realm. For eg. Happiness is the greatest treasure that mankind can possess and it is not physical. And material riches cannot bring in happiness. In fact sometimes, even lack of material treasures cannot defuse the happiness we have in our hearts. So these treasures, even though many times they are not in the physical form, can be the elixir of our lives.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are non conditional and come with no price labels. And there are no dos and don’ts applicable. They are available to all with no distinction to caste, creed or class. These gifts are available to every person who accepts Jesus Christ and is filled of Him. To the Christian they mean ‘HOPE’. Hope in the midst of despair; that there is a God who will deliver. Hope whilst staring at total defeat in the face of a dreadful disease; that Jehovah Raphè will heal. Hope in every circumstance!
Our God is a God of Hope, who dispels darkness and restructures a hopeless situation. A God who mends the situation for our good. But this hope, is for those who believe He can and He will. Belief in our Precious Lord Jesus Christ, who went up the slopes of Calvary to banish ‘hopelessness’. Look into your heart just now and ask yourself, Have I made room in my heart to make the God of Hope find space and rest within – that I may be filled with hope.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
