Thoughts for another day
July 3, 2006
Today's verse: Gen. Mi 6:2. O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me. (KJV).
My dear beloved in God, I’d like to ask you a question? What do you know of God? I am sorry if this question has irritated some of you but, I know that most people know of a God who is mighty and reigning in splendor. That, He answers all prayer, and His desire for us His people, is prosperity etc., etc. But if that is all you know of God, then don’t be surprised if He say to you on the day of accounting, ‘I never knew you’.
When you look into the heart of God our Father, you will see only love…for He is love. But then put on your spiritual eyes and you will see God’s pain.
My eyes moisten when I think of our God who is so powerful and mighty but when it comes to us, this mighty God is reduced to the state of a Father who loves his child and becomes weak before it. So too, our Father in heaven becomes weak before our cries. And we cry out to Him day and night and unfailingly, the Guardian of Israel, answers our prayer for He cannot refuse. But He is deeply sad. He puts so much joy in our hearts but He weeps. For He sees us all the time involved in our own and never having time for Him unless we need something or are sick. When He gives us a sickness to bring us close to Him, we revile Him saying, ‘How can you make us sick?’ When He puts a small problem, we go accusingly to Him and say, ‘Now look what You have done, now what am I supposed to do?’
Oh today, listen to the heart of God. It is weary with grief. The verse very clearly picturises the sorrow of God. It shows us His pain. It is like God reasoning with us and asking us, ‘what have I done to you that you turn your face to Me?’
There is deep sorrow in my heart when I think of the ways in which I offend Him day in and day out. There is so much pain when I think, ‘You, my God keep me so happy and glad. You look after my every need. But see, how pained you are. Every day I nail you again and again on the Cross. What a miserable sinner I am.’ And then He tells me, ‘Never mind My son, let it be. I love you so much but please, please change and come back to Me.’ What can I say?…
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
