Thoughts for another day

July 27, 2006

Today's verse: John 1:36. And he looked at Jesus as He walked along, and said, Look! There is the Lamb of God! (Amp.)

I met a friend after a long time and we discussed... In my earlier days, I used to have high paying jobs and was doing very well; as well is defined by the world. But today after I turned to the Lord, I work for an NGO and salaries in NGOs as you would know, are hardly sufficient to make ends meet and that’s the case with me. Besides, in the corporate world you can cheat, give false bills, evade taxes, etc. which after coming to the Lord you cannot do. If anyone tells you otherwise, He is not worshipping Jesus.

Then the friend said, but I see a happiness in you that I cannot comprehend. How is it possible. I replied, ‘You see I have a great friend and He takes care of me. My salary is never insufficient for this friend of mine makes sure that I have no useless expenditure. He prevents sickness from coming so I hardly spend on medicine. ‘So, he quipped, your friend is a doctor?’ ‘No’, I replied ‘and He also makes sure I don’t lose anything or have any court cases etc.’ ‘So, what is your friend, a policeman, or an advocate?’ I continued, ‘I don’t have to worry about my future, for He has already secured it and I will never be in want. So no insurance for me.’

Now this guy became very curious and he insisted knowing who this friend was. And I took him before a crucifix and pointing out to the figure on the cross said, ‘This is my friend. He is the lamb of God, my Lord and my God. Jesus Christ who is all sufficient and will never abandon me.’

My mind goes back about 2000 years when John the Baptist called Him ‘Lamb of God’. ‘Lamb of God?’ What an introduction! But, indeed Jesus was the Father’s lamb. Jesus came specifically to be sacrificed so that you and I may have life eternal life and that’s not all, He also came to tell us that we belong to a God who is our Father and who loves us tremendously and who will take care of us.
My message to you my friend is, Jesus Christ is yet the Lamb of God who takes away all our sin and who brings a joy that is not comprehensible. He ensures no harm can come to you and even though you fall, He will make you rise without so much as a scratch. Want Him as a friend too, I’ll introduce you, ‘This here is Jesus Christ of Nazareth, my friend…’
