Thoughts for another day

July 26, 2006

Today's verse: Jer 10:12,13. He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. (KJV).
Sometimes I wonder, why am I afraid of the things that befall me? Why do situations bind me and why do I feel so weak at times? The answer can only be: I do not know my God well. And so for the benefit of all of us, in today’s verse, we have a little, shall I say, information about God.

Anyone who has had a personal encounter with God and has known Him can never be afraid, for God would have instilled in his heart information on how mighty He is. Jesus was aghast when He saw His disciples cringing in fear when the storm hit the boat they were travelling in. What might He have wondered: Here am I with all power and these are afraid of mere storms? His word stilled the storm instantly! And my friend, He is willing to display His might if you have dwelled in His abode and if you tug at His hand long enough.

Of a truth I can tell you, we serve a mighty God. He is all power. No other power can be greater than Him for He has created every other power. He speaks and it is done. He can bring into existence that which does not exist and He can put life into the dead. That He has created you, makes you His and therefore, with due reverance I can say that it is His business to look after you. You are not anyone but the child of a mighty and powerful God.

Today, as you move in life, let ‘dread’ be scared when it tries to swamp you, learning that you have embraced the Rock of Israel and He is behind you. Let the devil know that He can no longer frighten you for God is with you.
