Thoughts for another day
July 14, 2006
Today's verse: Is. 49:3. Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. (KJV).
God has a wonderful plan for us. The plan is to carry His glory to the nations.
Ponder on this for a moment because when I said, He has a wonderful plan, we immediately think of some plan which is beneficial in a worldly context and therefore when one says that the plan is to carry the glory of God to the people, then we are a little disappointed, just as the young man was, who wanted to inherit eternal life and told Jesus that he had kept all the laws, when Jesus told him that he must go and sell all that he had and give to the poor!
As true as the fact is that there is the sun in the sky during day, so also is the idea that being a bearer of the glory of God is the greatest privilege a mortal may have. You see the glory of God is so tremendous that it spans the breadth and corner of the universe (Ps. 148:13). Even a reflection of that glory is enough to lift the spirit of man and raise him among the people, which is why David says, let thy face shine upon us!
Indeed the glory of God is so marvellous that mortals cannot stand before that glory. When the temple was dedicated to God, and His glory filled it, the priests couldn’t enter it. Yet this beautiful God desires that we take His glory to the nations. He wants to be glorified through us. And of a surety, I can say that when we become vessels to hold God’s glory for the world to see, then God’s blessings, both material and spiritual are not far behind. Today, God is seeking someone whom He can entrust His glory to; will you be that one?
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
