Thoughts for another day

July 13, 2006

Today's verse: Ps 77:11. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. (KJV).

Children of God must be accustomed to one thing and that is strife and trial. In His wisdom, God ordains the scourge upon people. For God is ever seeking to bring mankind to a point where man’s gaze will always be upon Him.

In this world, there are a number of things that happen; good and bad. Our moods and responses change with what kind of thing happened to us and how much we were affected. When good things happen, we hardly look upon God and to His helpful hand and worse, we sin. Take David, whom God Himself had testified as ‘a man after My own heart’. When God granted Him rest and His reign flourished, then he committed that dreadful sin with Bathsheba.

God understands the evil force of sin. He also knows the nature of humans as told in John, ‘He did not need man's testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man.’ Jesus very well knew the nature of Man. Did He not tell Peter, ‘before the cock crows, you will have denied Me thrice’? No matter what we say, sin can empower us and that is why we need suffering. But, be that as it may, remember the promise of God. Think of the past and you will see what the Lord had done for you.

My beloved, God is the same. He never changes and He never lies. His promises are as fresh as dew upon the newly opened flower. In your moments of despair, look to Him. He will shine forth His light upon you. He can do it, for He is all powerful. And He will do it, for He loves you.
