Thoughts for another day

Jan. 1, 2014.

Today's verse: Is. 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further.  Thanks)

As we move into this year… we’ve greatly rejoiced that the last year is over and expect this year to be more promising, yet, there’re many of us rather anxious and thoughtful about what it might bring.  When asked, they shrug it off saying it’s nothing; but looking closely, and if you can touch a chord of honesty, they’ll confide in you, all that might happen and believe me, it doesn’t seem good.

Things aren’t hunky dory; no Sir, they aren’t.  There’re people out there in various kinds of pits:  Some have no job and hope they’ll find one; others have just discovered they’re suffering from cancer and hope the medicines they take will cure them even as they know the sand in their life’s clock is quickly running out, there’re others on the threshold of divorce and break-up of the family and so on.  Rosy faces, pink lips, coiffed hair and what have you create mirages, but the reality is quite different.  Problems exist and they remain unless Someone intervenes.  After seeing many New Years on earth I can truly say that no one is bothered about what happens to us…siblings, parents and close friends and relatives will, but only for a time and then they move away.  They too have their problems, no?

But here in our Scripture we hear something amazing:  He, the God Almighty, The Most High is telling us something astounding.  He says He knows the plans He has for us…plans to prosper us and not cause us harm, in fact His plans offer us HOPE and a FUTURE.  See, we do not know what will happen next, but He does and as long as we are glued to Him and take Him as our all, there’s no power on earth that can shake us.  In fact He is the only Power and there’s no other.  Committing our all to Him, let us affirm our trust in Him today and seek His hand over our lives.  This year will then be a song He will put in our mouths and a hymn of testimony to His work in our lives.

HAVE A WONDERFUL 2014 IN HIS GLORIOUS PRESENCE.
