Thoughts for another day
Oct. 2, 2013.
Today's verse: Pro. 21:2. Every
way of a man is right in his
own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read
further. Thanks)
As we live, we gain knowledge and blend
it with our wisdom and plan. We plan so
we may move according to the plan and not stray from it. We chart out before us, our lives to live
according to our aspirations and if we’re to be realistic, even our abilities
that can lead up to our aspirations. We
see clearly what we’re to be and some of us seriously move in that direction in
the conscious desire to see our aspirations fulfilled and live our dreams. The sad thing here is, rarely do we have a
plan to do something for God and, involve Him in our plans so that His will is
realised in that which we plan.
You may be surprised I said we don’t
plan for God or involve Him in our plans, because perhaps you, or even your
pastor or the preacher you love, always talks about God; so how can I say what
I did. Well, these people are so few you
can literally count them on your fingers but the average Christian does neither
of the two. I’m aghast some don’t have
time for God. I’m also deeply pained
that some Christians consider their work more important than being with God,
defending their action saying, God gave us this work, so how can I disobey Him
and sit and pray! There’re homemakers
who complain they don’t have any time after the work they do at their homes for
it’s so tiring they say, how can I find time to pray…well, God understands isn’t
it? You may think this is all alien to
you because you pray for quite some time in your day, but remember, it’s the
truth and you could be an aberration. I
recently started a Bible class twice a month for an hour each; once when I went
beyond an hour, the people had issues and said, ‘if it’s for one hour, why don’t
you stick to one hour?’
And again sadly, they feel so smug about
it. They feel happy that they have put
us in our places and now don’t need to bother.
But hear what our God says today: Every way of a man is right in his own
eyes, but the Lord deals with our hearts.
He knows and He sifts them away who falsely show their spirituality. He knows the ways of man are largely
erroneous and move briskly toward his decay; yet, He does things for us and
sustains us on earth to move us from the muck we’ve gotten into - to higher
ground.
