Thoughts for another day

Oct. 1, 2013.

Today's verse: Is. 46:4. even to your old age I am he, even when you turn gray I will carry you.  I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save. (NRSV – copyright ack.)
(Pls. read the above before you read further.  Thanks)

At times, the fear of age draws into us who’re middle aged, as we look upon the many years we’ve lived on earth.  What endears even as we ponder on the roads our lives have taken are thoughts of events or moments or experiences which kindle our emotions and we feel light hearted and good.  There’re times we wish we could go back and re-live those moments again.  In deeper thought, we think of it and we see the invisible hand of God over all those times and we feel so blessed by Him.  We also see the troubled moments and again we see how God sustained and comforted us then and this makes us say a silent thank you to Him and our eyes moisten as we think how help came in certain tribulations, even as we were all at sea, wondering what to do!

Oh, there’re so many things we remember in which God intervened and then we didn’t even know that it was He who redeemed.  But with white hair at the temples and a certain amount of baldness, we're able to clearly see God’s hand in our lives.  Now, what about the future?  For that we have our Word today, straight from God, the Creator of all mankind and He says clearly, Even to our old age, I am the same and even when you turn gray, I will carry you.  He affirms that He has made us and that He will bear and carry us and save us.  How do we look upon this promise of God?  You see I ask this question because it is possible in this time we might have faced a number of problems in our lives and we’re still facing them, even as a blank future looms large in front of us.

But, forget not His Word for He says, He has made and He will carry and save us!  What He has said, He can and will accomplish and we know that it is His will that He carry us for it is He who made us.  Our dependence must be on Him and Him alone for He alone knows the flow of blood in every vein in our bodies and He regulates all the mechanisms within so we may live.  There is nothing that God can’t correct in our lives and it is possible for Him to turn adversity into opportunity.  Take heart if you are having a tough time today and trust Him.  Think upon His promise and He will never fail you.
