Thoughts for another day

Oct. 31, 2012.

Today's verse: Is. 26:13. O LORD our God, other lords than You have ruled us; it is from You only that we can call upon Your Name. (New American Bible)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Earthly masters rule over us and lord it upon us but the only Master we love and we worship is the Master who loves us and gave Himself for us.  From Him is our soul refreshed; our beings are rejuvenated by His open hand and His providence.  He alone has a solution for both our temporal and eternal needs for He has made us and He knows us intimately and thus also knows our need, both in this world and in the eternal.

What can our earthly masters give us?  Only pain.  Look at the common man in any part of the world.  His existence is marked by the generosity and sympathy of the ones who rule him.  If his rulers want, they can destroy him completely and for this they don't even need a reason but that, he held them in contempt.  And this isn't the situation only in dictatorships but even in the so called 'civilized' and democratic nations of the world, where the values of yesterday have eroded and instead greed and filth have filled the minds of politicians who'll do anything to keep their chairs intact.  For them, people's lives are expendable and they have such a superior attitude as if they own the world.  The best thing is no matter which party they're from, they're equally the same and corrupt.

What they give you as reward for your honesty is but crumbs while they retain the whole portion.  They can never give you pure joy or happiness for they themselves are not purely joyous or happy.  When you compare them to our heavenly Father, they appear to be hell's emissaries and before the brilliance of our God in heaven, they pale into total insignificance.   But our God, He is so beautiful and awesome.  When He says something, He keeps His Word and He is always there for us and the best part is He has the time for us and He listens to us.  Though He is so awesome and brilliant, He yet comes to us and is with us and though we are not meant to be the dust on which His foot treads, He yet enables us to call Him by Name and also say, 'Our Father'.
