Thoughts for another day

Sept. 12, 2012.

Today's verse: Ps. 107:1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

When I see our Scripture today, I feel a deep joy within me, something that's just inexpressible because it's so deep and it's because God is so good.  My friend, you may be sitting on the top of a huge problem and what I say here might sound so ridiculous to you right now, but then it stands; for God is good.  Like what people usually say, I'll not tell you, don't look at your problem, look at God; for I know how much the mind is clogged in misery when the chips are down and life is unbearable; where then, you might tell me, is the space in my mind to appreciate my situation.

When trials coming our way bring great pain with them, which whether we like or not, we have to bear, even keeping the faith is difficult.  Some days ago I was talking to this lady and she almost cried and told me that she suffers a lot of pain in her body – a pain she knew of after she and her husband met with an accident in which they were saved rather miraculously.  After patiently listening to her, all I could tell her is, maybe in your pain God wants you to reach out to those suffering similarly – a pain which only they who suffer from, know what it's like for its searing and ceaseless, brought about by the slightest movement of the hand or any part of the body.  How then is our above Scripture, to bring about that deep feeling of joy within these people; for they're so slain by pain!

But, remember, Jesus too went through excruciating pain and shame during the last hours before He died.  A pain, He could very well have escaped from; a pain, which was unnecessary for Him but very necessary for us.  The fact that He went through that pain, means there's something beyond, that pain which we must see no matter how dark the road ahead seems.  And if we but try, God will put that view in our hearts.  Then, though in pain, our soul will rejoice for it is able to understand that just beyond this life is its meeting with God.  A God Who will welcome you with arms open wide.  That's when the soul, even here on earth will say:  Oh, give thanks to the LORD for He is good and His love is everlasting.
