Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: Mt. 5:37. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
Before we dwell on our reflection, I'll ask a question: When I really want to reassure somebody that I am going to do something for them, is just a mere yes enough to satisfy and make them feel that I'll be really doing it? In most cases no, isn't it? They want another sign of confirmation, perhaps, even swearing on something, or a guarantee, etc.
Now here's Jesus talking about oaths and how swearing is out of question for there's nothing we can swear upon as there's nothing we created or have control over. Think about it, really there's nothing that's within us or of us that we can place as an hedge to swear! That's why Jesus says, 'let your yes, be yes and your no be no' for He says further, 'anything more comes from the evil one'. Now, when you think of the need for guaranties, indemnities and promissory notes, etc. in today's world, what can we make out? Nothing much but that the world is under the control of the evil one and men are his foil in this control. Leave alone men not being a part of his coterie, we're his emissaries in a way and that's why our lives are so convoluted. When we say yes, we don't mean it. When we say no, we have a way around it and so on.
In effect there's no truth in the world today because the father of lies reigns in the world and he directs both our thoughts and our deeds to work for him and not God. My friend, this is indeed sad because we know how good our God is and how basely we, His children, treat Him. It would indeed be right and pertinent that we look upon Him and do as He says for then alone will we find His way in the world and we'll come to honor Him and glorify Him as God and as the One who reigns in the world, not the rogue, who masquerades as the angel of light twisting the Word of God to sway us from being God's children.
