Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: 1 Jn. 3:3. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
Preceding our Scripture above is a fabulous thing St John speaks of when he says, 'Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we be called the sons of God', further he says, as sons of God we know He will appear some day and we will be like Him for we will see Him as He is (meaning in His glory He had from the beginning). Hence John says that every man who hopes in Him purifies himself in that hope, just as He is pure.
My friend, what is needed to be pure and holy before Him. Not much except we believe in Him; for when we do, just as He accorded righteousness to Abraham when he believed, He will also accord us righteousness. Besides, when we believe like Abraham, we'll also do as Abraham did, that is, hope against hope and listen to His call no matter what, adamantly trusting Him even in the darkest moments; as Abraham having believed in Him, brought himself to sacrifice Isaac, a son he had received at so late an age; but he trusted that if God can give him Isaac, He can also take care of His promise 'that his descendents would be numerous.'
I can witness it's possible for I've experienced it and when everything suggests I take steps that will squeeze God and His promises out of my life (this seems good to the 'Spiritually insensate' human mind) I've resolutely stuck to my stand that God will restore for He has the power and the ability and above all, He loves me. Not that it's easy, for sometimes, my mind tells me how dark my future will be and that I need to do a few things to enable God to help me; this also is the advice some of those closest to me, give. Trusting God wholly is difficult, but believe me, if you've decided firmly in your heart to do it, you will succeed, for it is He who will make you succeed. Only when you've gone past the dark tunnel and come into the light will you know how wonderfully He took care of you in the tunnel and in the process, refined you to a state of purity you never knew you could achieve.
