Thoughts for Another Day

Today's verse: Eph 6:11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
Opening our eyes and looking at the state of mankind today, we'll notice everything gone awry. Look at our homes, our neighborhoods, cities, countries, and the world. We see violence, hatred, desire for revenge, murders, destruction and decay - among brothers, kin, neighbors, and communities. Did God mean for us to live like this? One look at the brilliance of the Father which the Holy Spirit affords us means God wanted us to live like kings; but we're a far cry from that - leave alone kings we don't even live like the least of royalty.
You know the reason for that? But of course, the enemy of mankind, both in our present form and our eternal form, our souls. Yes, the devil is behind the evil we see in the world and in the places we live day in and day out. From the time of Adam and Eve, he's ensured greed, pride, envy and other hideous traits engulf and control us, making us prey to the most vicious crimes we could possibly commit and it's no matter of small concern that we easily fall to his evil wiles.
The devil is active even today. We follow him for we believe his lies; Jesus said, he's the father of all lies and there's no truth in him; his visions of grandeur are like poison ivy – good to look at, deadly to hold. There's no way we can tackle him, no not one within us and so, we need to rely on God and God alone to triumph. That's why Paul says, 'Put on the whole armor of God so you can withstand the wiles of the devil.' Truly if you're one who hates sin and don't understand why you sin, maybe you learnt now. But what do you do next? Put on the whole armor of God. Wear truth, righteousness, readiness for the Gospel of peace, and faith so that by His Grace you quell the fiery darts of the devil. Take then the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and stand firm in the Lord. Victory is yours in His Name.
