Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: Jer. 3:19. But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
God's tears sometimes come forth in His Word and today's Scripture reflects them crystal clear though there's no mention as such. There's pain in His voice as He speaks and I find the hint of sadness that we usually don't see in God. Sadness, not for any lack of power in His mighty Self but that when He gave us the option of choice, we chose everything else, except Him!
From the beginning God created us to be one with Him. He wanted to assign us power and every possibility. The only condition being that we would obey Him in everything and always commune with Him. Adam found everything in Him and life was easy. Yet, the lure of being like God led him to sin; the sin wasn't merely to be like Him, for had Adam asked God to make him like Him, then God would have shown him that he was already like Him. And it is there in the Word, that those to whom the Word of God comes are like God (Ps. 82:6 and Jn. 10:34) and we also know that God created us in His Own image and likeness (Gen. 1:26). The sin was disobedience to God; which was the devil's enticement because he blinded Adam to not notice what he already was and rather stupidly yearn to be that itself!
The wedge was driven by Adam between God and man and it became wider and wider with each succeeding generation till the time of utter desolation and destruction, wherein the Jews were subjected to every humiliation. And God sent the above Scripture in that awful state, speaking of what He wanted us to be and what we became. God reveals as it were, His inner desire and the exaltation He had in mind for us. Yet, it was not to be. But, then God sent His Son to remove the wedge and bring about a union. If we still fail to listen to His call to be united in Him through His Son, won't God someday, shed tears telling us the same that He said in today's Scripture, though more poignantly for we would have done the greater sin of refusing the blood of His beloved Son? Would you like that?
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
