Thoughts for another day

Aug. 6, 2009

Today's verse: Rev. 8:4. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

I pray; daily. I ask, or I could say, implore. And then God takes His time. I wait and wait and wait and still no answer. What am I to make of it? Yes, on the sidelines, sometimes I say, ‘Lord, why don’t You answer my prayer, why do You turn Your face from me?’ Isn’t this the story of many Christian brothers and sisters? In Ps. 88 v 14, A part of my prayer echoes sacred scripture (Ps. 88 v 14), where the psalmist says, ‘LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?’ Ah dear saint of God, even the dearest of the Lord are put in the pit. But it doesn’t end there. There is a rising from the pit as David sings, ‘I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill.’

The faithfulness of the Lord never wanes. His ears never tire hearing our prayers. Oh how He loves that His saints prosper, that His people rise above and reign, yes reign even on earth. Doesn’t a father on earth like that his child rise up above others? How much more, our Heavenly Father? All humiliation, all insult all sin He cast on His Son, who bore them so we needn’t bear them. We who are filthy and not fit to even touch his slippers are embraced by Him; remember the scene, the father of the prodigal son runs when he sees his son in the distance and then embraces, the ragamuffin, good for nothing, wastrel. Yeah my dear one in the Lord, even so is the Lord our God.

As to our prayers, they’re offered along with the smoke of the incense and they are a pleasant perfume before the Almighty. They’re fine aroma that tingle His heart and He stretches forth His hand and gives…gives much, only, do we have the faith to receive?
