Thoughts for another day

Jan. 8, 2008

Today's verse: Heb. 3:1,2a. Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him… (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

God has given each one of us, a task meant only for us even before we came on the earth. Unfortunately, a majority of people do not know what it is. Many do not know because they do not know our God or they have not bothered to know about Him. Then there are others who have heard of Him but give Him scant recognition. Whatever that be, it is a fact that God has given each one of us a sacred responsibility.

When Jesus came to this earth, He came with a responsibility: to save fallen mankind. He was steadfast to His responsibility and He fulfilled it even though He knew it to be dreadful and needed a huge reservoir of strength and personal fortitude. This in itself should be a lesson to us His disciples, to also bear our heavenly responsibility and acknowledge our calling.

To add an insight as to why God assigns us a responsibility, well it is so that we are made to take ownership of God’s Kingdom. You see, God is One who seeks involvement from us. He wants us to be participative and own the thing, so to say. For He also knows that there is more joy in participation and doing something than in being a mute spectator. But don’t forget, He is always there to guide and help in whatever way we require. For He knows that our steps may not always be trodding smooth ground. All He needs is a keen faithfulness to Him and our sincere devotion; in the knowledge that He has appointed us to an assigned task.
