Thoughts for another day

Nov. 27, 2007

Today's verse: 1 Cor. 15:34. for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Knowing God is the most essential aspect of man because man’s spirit is tied up with God in a manner that it yearns to be with Him. It’s like a little child who doesn’t want to leave his mother or the person who has been with it all the time. But we fallen creatures are hardly concerned. I say this of me because I know how much I yearn to be with God. Literally nothing… The only saving grace in my life is that I reserve some time for God, which is exclusively His and to the extent possible, I try to abide by it with His Grace. Now, because we do not have and seek not His knowledge, we are involved with all kind of atrocious and evil things and finally die in misery.

I know of many people who have died failed lives when they could well have passed away in peace and victory. This mind you, are those who profess to be Christian and may I say, lead the Christian life! There are some of us who tell me, ‘Why do you need all this? When we were small, our parents and others taught us a few prayers. These prayers are good, our lives are blessed and we are extremely happy. So, why change now?’

This is a question many may have in their lives and to understand this, let’s look at Abraham. Wasn’t he satisfied when he was in Chaldea or had moved to Haran? He could have well asked God the same question. He didn’t know that God wanted to raise him as His own and make him the father of nations. It was achieved only when Abraham agreed to hearken to God’s call. Knowledge of God means spending time with God and meditating upon Him. When we do this, He is pleased and then the big thing that He intended to give us, of which we have no idea, becomes possible and real in our lives.
