Thoughts for another day

June 27, 2007

Today's verse: Rev. 2:4. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

If your are reading this today, then let me tell you, there is a purpose God has called you for; that purpose is outlined in the Bible: To be messengers for His Gospel to those living in darkness. Even as I write, I find the verse above being spoken to me; it is so striking and true. So very real. God today, gently reminds both me and you, that our lives have taken paths away from the halo of His Grace, like the rivulet that strays from the desired purpose of the river and feeds into oblivion.

Remember my friend, when we first encountered God, how excited we were. The zeal we were filled with! We were ready to do anything for Him. We considered our lives so meaningful in the service of the Lord. Really, the warmth of His love spread like a cloak as we basked in the peace that came forth. But, it quickly faded away! The torrents of evil spewed by the world, engulfed us because of the dirt we harbor in our hearts. Today, where is the warmth? Where is the zeal we were gushing with? Where is our first Love: God Almighty, most loving and most gracious, in our lives? Oh, my soul, how temporal is my affiliation to my Maker?
But fret not, for God is close to you. Make Him the Anchor in your heart. The riddles of life, no matter what they be, can be solved by Him. Our problems are mere wisps of smoke when placed under His tent. Rise my soul and in repentance move to the shade of His canopy. He will not thrust you away. Rather like the father of the prodigal son, He will clasp us in His embrace and clothe us in a new robe, putting a ring on our fingers saying, welcome My child, to your eternal dwelling.
