Thoughts for another day

April 17, 2007

Today's verse: Jer. 50:25. The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

There are times when people irritate us a lot. And it is not an irritation of an easy sort but one, which creates maximum redness under the collar. Then there are situations created by some people, which make us seethe because they cause us great discomfort. At these times, we are so angry that we want to retaliate and hurt them too.

But caution; For the Lord says: ‘…do not look for revenge…for vengeance is Mine, I will repay…’ I remember the life of David. Saul was seeking to kill him for no fault of his and he was on the run. Two times was Saul put into his hands that he could kill him. Yet, David didn’t touch him; rather David prevented his servants too from hurting him saying that Saul was the Lord’s anointed and woe unto him to harm Saul.

In today’s verse, look at how the Lord is ready to wreck vengeance on the Babylonians (or Chaldeans). You will remember that the Babylonians had destroyed the Israelites and the Temple of the Most High. Further humiliation resulted from their exile to Babylon. Before the Babylonians, the Israelites were really helpless. A careful reading of Isaiah and Jeremiah will reveal, even that, had been brought about by the Lord because the Israelites had sinned grievously. That, which was His inheritance, He, the Lord had rejected. But then the Lord had told through the prophets that He would bring them back. The above Word is ensconced at that moment. A Word of confidence and power. A sign of massive vengeance on the Babylonians. And we know the Lord did it.

My friend when you have the Great God, the Most High with you, there is naught you need fear, for even if they have wronged you dreadfully, He will at His time wreck such a vengeance on them that they shall dread coming in your path ever! But only know, leave the vengeance to Him, He will redeem.
