Thoughts for another day

January 25, 2007

Today's verse: 2 Tim. 3:14. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of… (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

In the path of life, there will be many thorns and stumbling blocks. Every individual, has some method of facing them. Some just smile and step aside. Some run to others and tell them of the block and so on… For some a thorn is a challenge; for others a route of despair and we hear of all sort of things that happen with people. We even hear of some committing suicide for they could not cope with the thorn before them. It makes us wonder - how different we are and how differently we handle our problems.

The question is, how do we handle our problems; we who believe in Jesus, what manner do we use in facing the blocks before us?

If you were to ask me, I’ll mention one way I use and that is: God. I have learned over time that there is none like Him to run to when confronted with a problem. As for me, in a situation of difficulty, I always look up. I talk to Him as with a friend and I tell you the truth, He never disappoints. And I have also learnt to speak to Him of all the small things concerning me, whether it is keeping something in my bag at office and asking Him to remind me to take it out at home or even to add the mayonnaise in the sandwich I’ll be making in the morning!

Truly today’s verse is very significant. It does not promise you miracles. It does not mention that life will be good. But, it simply says that we continue in the teachings we have learned and been assured of; I’ll add, via the Bible. God has given us so many promises and the greatest promise is that of Him being with us. It is so wonderful when you sit and think…The God of the universe, The Righteous One of Israel, The Almighty Lamb of God, is there with me. Of whom then shall I be afraid? Who can dare harm me? What problem can stop me? None. For none can withstand God. And for those who continue in His way…He is a Rock of Refuge. A Tower of Strength, to run to and be embraced, in perpetual comfort. With Him you have all your miracles and all your answers. Even unto eternal life.
