Thoughts for another day

January 24, 2007

Today's verse: Deut. 28:12. The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

It’s funny how, at times we fail to understand that God is behind everything in our lives. Through Him things happen and through Him alone we are able to go forward. Example: Say we step out for work in the morning. If driving, God clears the road ahead of us and moves the traffic so we can course through and reach on time. And when we reach our destination, He provides parking space for our vehicles. If we use public transport, it is He who brings the train or the bus and helps us reach our places of work on time. There are times when God does not move things and we reach late. Don’t you curse and swear under your breath at such times and also blame God? What about the other times when you are early? Do you thank Him?

In life whatever we see, we do and we know, are by God, of God and for God. Nothing moves without Him. He can clam the machinery of the earth such that everything stops. He can clam the movement of your heart right now and you stop… die! One minute there, the next moment, gone. The Bible in many ways emphasizes this and continually reinforces the primacy of God. There may be many truths in the world but the One Truth never wanes nor becomes unreal.

In today’s verse we see how God can send the rain in its season and bless the work of our hands. Why then are we afraid of seeing no results? Do we work sincerely? Yes? Then God will send the results. For that matter, even when we do not work, God will send the results. Difficult to believe no? But true nonetheless. Is man capable of helping God in sending the rain? Nah…he cannot even help himself when God sends excess rain! So, what can man do? Literally nothing.

Our trust in God has to be definite, just as when we step out of the house, we know where we want to go. So also when we look up we must know He is there and He provides. Blessed is His Name.
