Thoughts for another day
January 1, 2007
Today's verse: 2 Chron. 20:12. O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. (KJV)
2007 - The beginning. Begin with a prayer. Leave all revelry and fun and other worldly things aside for a moment. Say this simple prayer: Lord, I know not what this year holds for me neither will I not know in many situations, what to do; but, Abba, my eyes are turned to You.
This probably is the greatest prayer you may make for a long time and it comes straight from His Word. At this point could you read the Word of God, 2 Chronicles 20:1-25. For me, this was a great moment of the Lord’s mercy and His unconditional love for me. God demonstrated in this passage that He is able to do everything for His people, provided they turn their eyes to Him.
My friend, when the billows of life have tossed me hither thither and the winds of turmoil attack me and truly I know not what to do, all I need is to turn my face to Him, who knows exactly what to do. And having surrendered, I just need to bless His Name and pronounce praises unto Him for whom nothing is impossible.
You will notice Jehoshaphat and the Israelites do the same in the face of imminent danger. And God their lover and our lover, worked marvelously! He destroyed their enemies and gave the Israelites their wealth, which took them three days to collect. Though you may not know what’s in store this year, I can assure you that He is there beside you and you will live to give glory to His Name next year.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
