Thoughts for another day

December 11, 2006

Today's verse: Prov. 3:27. Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. (KJV)

In this world today, with the kind of revulsion for the human being by another human being, it is extremely difficult to love and honor somebody genuinely. But that’s precisely what God wants of us today.
If at all we love, then it is someone from our family. If we praise, then it is someone who has favored us. This is because, we find good only in those we look for good in and as to the rest, our opinion of them is that they are wicked. It is not only a tragedy that we see the blemishes in people and fail to notice the good. That is one of the chief reasons why the atmospheres around us are a mix of discord and anger.

For a change and that too in this Christmas season, can we spot something good in someone near us? It could be a total stranger. And the good could be as much as trying to make the person next to me in the public transport a little more comfortable by my using a little less space on my shared seat. Then again could we overlook the faults of our colleagues who never cease to alarm us with their stupidities?! Importantly, can we profusely praise someone who deserves it? Can we just deliver good to those to whom it is due? Can we go out of our way and congratulate another person on a victory, even if that person happens to be my enemy?

My friend, God forgives us and accepts us always. Can we do the same to our fellow men and women so that we could spread some good cheer and bring in the atmosphere of divinity? Remember, people will watch you at it and will glorify God for your actions.
