Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: Jer. 29:13. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (KJV)
Where do you find God? asked a man of a priest? The holy man after much thinking said, ‘My son, you don’t find God. He finds you!’ Do you think it’s true? Think you can never find God? Let’s see what the Spirit of God has to say today; then you can arrive at your own answer.
Look at today’s verse carefully. He says, we shall seek Him and find Him when we seek Him with all our heart. Now a few basic things:
1. God is omnipresent i.e. He is everywhere.
2. God is extremely gigantic (He says the earth is His footstool…).
3. God is invisible.
There are others but we will dwell on these and mind you this is not an academic exercise but an attempt to understand Him who is above all. It will also refute many arguments that people have very deviously brought forward to rationalize their lack of communion with God. For e.g. when I tell somebody to go to the prayer room to pray, the person asks me why? Isn’t God in my home too, can’t I meet Him there? Fair enough, then why did Jesus go to the mountaintops or deserted places to pray?
See, when you come to God, you need to come with your heart. Futile is your attempt to contact Him if your heart is not with you. Physically present, mentally absent, is not acceptable to God. Since He is omnipresent, the question of finding Him doesn’t arise; rather it is a question of sensing Him. You can develop a sensor only when you sit with Him for long ‘whiles’ in quiet, ‘Be still and know that I am God’ (Ps. 46:10). Flirting with Him will never give you the opportunity to sup with Him but only tying the knot will allow you that, if you understand what I mean.
When God comes to you after your sincere seeking, He becomes small for your sake. Remember with God ‘bigness’, glory, etc. don’t matter. God is all in all and He can be found even in smallness. When He spoke to Elijah, His was a still small voice (1 Ki. 19:12). The Word of says, in Jn. Ch. 13 that Jesus knew the Father had put all things in His hand, then He began washing the disciples’ feet!
Though God cannot be seen He can be felt. At times in deep prayer, I can clearly feel Him with me. Tears of joy roll down my eyes and I pray like David, ‘Why are you so fond of me Lord? What manner of love is this that You, Purity undefiled come and commune with me a sinner?’
My friend God is just looking for that willingness in your heart to give Him company. Believe me the courts are empty where God dwells. The stairways are deserted where His feet fall and when He speaks, there are no ears to listen! For God’s sake will you be there? Will you be found of Him today?
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
