Thoughts for another day

September 29, 2006

Today's verse: Ps. 16:11. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (KJV)

God’s presence is awesome. Complete silence precedes it. A yearning heart is the cause of it and humility is the environment, which enriches it.

My friend in Jesus Christ, futile is our life if we have no time for God. What’s the sense if our lips mutter some prayers each day and we ourselves are not in it? What gain will there be if all we can do is just say some printed prayer but are aloof from the One we pray to. Completely useless is the human who stands on the earth and makes the notions of prayer with all the garments of outward appearance yet in no way connected to God. There is no fulfillment. I know because there are times when I pray like that and it is time spent in futility. I am ashamed of it.

You know when we look up to Heaven and in our heart there is an ache to behold our maker; there is a ‘connect’. Then, like the song goes, sings my soul my Savior God to Thee; how great Thou art, how great Thou art…An awesome feeling envelopes my being as my heart sings this song because the Creator of all, envelopes me and hides me under His wings. It is as if heaven fills my heart. How do I know? Well, I sense an inexplicable joy deep down. An unknown pleasure floods my senses and my spirit is lifted to a different level. Ah…it can only be Paradise.

My friend, it is amazing that God being so great, is just a heart’s cry away. These days in the midst of instant things let us not have instant prayer; somebody gives me a sheet of paper on which is some prayer and tells me it’s very powerful and I say that prayer! Utter vanity! Rather, let us give Him who gives us time, some time. And in that time, let us endeavor to meet with Him, not just say some words and leave. Transform your prayer life today and meet Him, then as today’s verse suggests, ‘you will be filled with His presence where there’s fullness of joy and eternal pleasures will be yours’.
