Today's verse: Hosea 4:6. My people perish for want of knowledge. (NAB)

Where do you get to know God fully and blessedly? There is only one place where you can get to know Him (and be known by Him) and that is in His Word. Everywhere else, will be where He is talked about but in the Word, He speaks to you about Himself and His plans for humanity, for you of course, to the extent you need to know. He unfolds His love for you and how He wants to take care of you.

Therefore, I always urge people to read the Word. Not a frivolous ‘time-pass’ kind of reading, but a reading in which you are involved. If you were to have a person very dear to you and that person wrote something, what would you do? Read it over and over again isn’t it?

Yet, when it comes to the Word, people do not read it and if they do, it is as an act of habit rather than an act of love. My friend, without mincing words I can only say that it is because we are not interested in God that we do not read His Word. And when you do not read it, you do not ‘know’ Him and when you do not know Him, He is not able to work in your life because you are not able to call out to Him the way you should. And that my friend is why we are miserable. Take God’s own Word, He is even more caustic. He says, My people perish because of lack of knowledge!!!

I would urge you my brothers and sisters to stop fooling around and get into the ‘God Arena’. And for this, you could atleast read His Word. Forget about chapters and books, atleast you could read a few verses. My fervent plea to you would be, get out of your comfort zone and get moving with God. Get to know Him through His Word. Lest, someday when its too late, you may hear Him say to you, ‘Move away from here, for I do not know you.’
