Thoughts for another day

April 28, 2014.

Today's verse:  1 Thess. 4:3. For this is the will of God, your sanctification:that you abstain from immorality;  (RSV - copy. ack.)
(Pls. read the above before you read further.  Thanks)

Time and again I may write that God wants us to be holy as even our Scripture today tells us and yet, I can and must write it again for there’s nothing as precious in God’s sight as being holy for that is God’s will for all mankind.  God and sin cannot co-exist and when we are in a state of sin, we are not able to commune with God nor have any kind of interaction with Him, as His Holy Spirit, the One who lives in us and intimately communes with us, is hurt and goes away from us.  It is then unto us to bear the burdens of life alone for we do not then have either, His guidance nor His strength.

Now whether we’re holy or not (like most of us), holiness is non-negotiable and there can be no compromise on that score.  As far as God is concerned, He wants that if we’re in a state of ‘unholiness’ and thus don’t experience Him, we must without delay, come back. We need to put in a simple effort in telling Him how much we’re sorry we have sinned.  Of course, we must feel bad in our hearts and also be ready to relinquish whatever we’ve held thus far, which makes us sin.  It’s enough that every time we sin, we reach out to Him in that consciousness of sinning, realizing how weak we are in our minds and then change the course of our lives.  One thing we must bear in mind is our hypocrisy.  The world may think we are holy, but the Lord God who is holy sees us as we are and there is no blemish He can stay with and consequently, we lose His Presence.

In our Word, we’re also told that we must abstain from all immorality for God hates it and it’s the only sin, if we indulge in to the end, where we involve our bodies in it.  Sacredness which is so scant in these times must be the most sought commodity for every believer and leaning on God for all things must be the main motto of our lives for though we’re weak, God isn’t and He will not allow us to fall down because of some sin which is trying to fell us.  Therefore, let us commit our lives to His precious will and strive to walk on that path called Holiness; for it sure leads to the eternal dwellings that God has prepared for those who trust in Him and live in His light.
