Thoughts for another day

Aug. 1, 2013.

Today's verse: Lk. 1:49. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further.  Thanks)

Here’s an instance of a man, down in the dumps; the bills are pending and there’s no possible way of paying them for there’s no money in the bank; the credit card is overdrawn, the debtors are standing at the door.  Even, the refrigerator is empty, the table lacks bread and worse, the mortgage isn’t paid for months and a notice stands pinned on the soft-board saying - if not paid by the ::th of the month, a date gone by, the property will be auctioned and the money recovered.  His head is between his hands and despair hangs heavy on his family of four, two kids included.  But there’s desperate prayer arising out of his heart.

The intensity of his prayer increases every moment; he sees heaven experience the intensity (he’s using sheer violence to take his blessing by force and ah, God loves it when you apply force: power interceding, laced with unyielding faith) yet there’s no trace of the blessing.  Did Elijah despair when he put his face between his knees and asked his servant to see if there’s a cloud of rain across the sea – seven times!  Now he knows his feeling is the same as Elijah’s – unyielding faith in the face of an impossible situation.  And just as at the seventh time the servant came back saying, 1 Kgs. 18:44, ‘Behold, there arises a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand’ so your heart yells, there it is, my blessing; and the doorbell rings.  You arise and there’s this man with a basket of bread and meal, giving it to you; he knows not why he’s doing it, except a little voice told him to! You invite him in and he looks around.  Suddenly he sees the painting hanging on your wall – one you never bothered to look at for it was always there, even when you bought the place and all in it.  And he goes close – your hair rises as he looks at it and he whispers, ‘that’s an original masterpiece and should fetch atleast 700,000 dollars,’ a conservative best, as the man happens to be an art collector.  And now, he’s pleading you to sell it to him, for 800,000, no, more, 900,000 or even a million!!! Vow, you thought you were in need and now you’re in shock, then awe, relief but mostly, thanks.  The man looks at you and you start crying.  Your wife cries and your sons cry and he too cries!  You cry and between sobs say, ‘Look at what my God has done; blessed and holy is His Name!’

My friend, this isn’t just a fairy tale, neither is it a co-incidence, but the Mighty Lord at work: to embellish the power of faith in Him and He does it to all who keep faith in Him; the blessing may not be as much as in this case, but enough to keep you happy and He loves it when you look up to heaven, straight into His eye and with great gratitude, thank Him for His blessing.  Oh, how Great and holy is His Name.
