Thoughts for another day

July 12, 2013.

Today's verse: Ro. 1:17. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further.  Thanks)

We know the Gospel; and the essence of the Gospel is: God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  The Gospel is about God and about His salvation in and through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who is Lord and King, reigning at the right hand of God through all eternity.  The Gospel is about the Holy Spirit, our God, Who was given us by Jesus Christ as our Counselor and Comforter, Who is with us wherever we are and Who is there to strengthen us when our knees get weak due to the trials and tribulations that come our way.

The Gospel is the Christian’s route to salvation and only the Gospel provides a means to eternal life. And in it is revealed the Son of God, Jesus Christ and we know, no one can go to the Father except through the Son and the Son is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE.   Anyone who wishes to have life eternal must accept the Son and the Son accepts all who come to Him; He never denies anyone who in humility accepts His Name and believes in Him for salvation; for such purpose He came to earth that all may believe in Him and find rest for their souls.

Now, the Gospel is the food and by eating it we can be saved forever because it’s the righteousness of God, but, it can be accepted and imbibed only by faith.  It’s received by the faith one has inside of him; the faith which is a gift of God.  Then, once it is accepted and imbibed, it’s also to be believed in and again it’s here that faith plays an important role for it’s by faith alone that it can be accepted.  There is no other way.  And that is why the Word says, ‘the just shall live by faith.’  Faith is the solid ground of our acceptance of our God and all that stands for Him, even purity of heart and meekness and the good we do to others because we know that our belief in God must translate into action by which we also show that we are His and that He is ours.  It’s in this that we please Him and the way by which we shall find rest for our souls.
