Thoughts for another day
May 1, 2013.
Today's verse: Heb. 11:6. And
without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him
must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
When we approach God for any help we
need, we must believe He exists. Take
for example, a child wanting something from her parents. Well, she’ll not only know and trust they’re
her parents, but she’ll even among many people, search them out and go only to them. A little kid knows how to do that and yet we
adults don’t really believe in God though He has granted so many favors
in the past.
Someone may say it’s easy for us to know
and believe in a human being but how to really believe in God when we don’t see
Him; when we don’t hear Him and when we don’t see our prayers answered by
Him. Now, just as everything in life has a rule,
for example an apple will only taste like an apple, so too, God has His rules,
and His rules are for our benefit. His
being invisible is His way and that is right for who can see God in His awesome
glory and live? He Himself says so in
Ex. 33:20. And even before that as God spoke to the Israelites the Ten
Commandments, and they saw the thunder and lightning, on Mount Sinai, they told
Moses, Ex. 20:19, “Speak to us yourself and we’ll listen. But
do not have God speak to us or we’ll die.” And this even though they couldn’t
see God; what if they saw Him?
God is seen in His creation in the world. Each flower delivers His message of beauty
and the soft wind is His comfort around us.
He constantly speaks to us in His Holy Spirit, but we’re so caught up by
the world that we don’t hear Him. As for
unanswered prayer; God always answers prayers in line with His will for our
lives and His will is the best for remember, God knows our past, present and
future, whereas we’re only conversant with the past and present. Coming to our Scripture today, it remains - if
we’re to move His heart, how good it is to believe in our hearts that He exists
and listens. Believe me, He will not
withhold any good thing from those who, having believed, sincerely implore His
help.
