Thoughts for another day
April 5, 2013.
Today's verse: 1 Sam. 14:15. And
there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the
garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked: so it was
a very great trembling. (KJV)

Implicit trust in God gives
extraordinary results and what better example, than that in our Scripture
above. Let’s comprehend the situation
here; in which Jonathan and his armor bearer have a little rendezvous with the
Philistines. Israel at that time under
Saul was bereft of adequate arms and also lacked the courage to usurp the
Philistines who had ventured into their territory.
At that time, Jonathan decides to go
over to the Philistine outpost telling his armor bearer, ‘Come,
let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by
few.’ Note the emphasized portion of what Jonathan says and from it one
can gauge the faith he reposes in Yahweh God.
That’s what I’d say is ‘implicit faith’ and as we see the drama that
unfolds, with Jonathan trusting the Lord to lead and enlighten his mind on a course
of action through what the Philistines say to their incursion into their
territory, a major victory is wrought for Israel; by God working out an amazing
scenario whereby the earth shakes, to the panic of the Philistines and the
Bible says the panic was beyond their endurance and they in confusion even
thrust their swords into each other!
I always maintain there’re great things in
store for the man who believes in God greatly; as we see it in the episode of
Jonathan above. Even in our lives, there
could be circumstances of conflict and confusion. At that time, we may even wonder, if we
prayed to God, how could God deliver, for deliverance seems impossible. But if we have implicit and unshakeable
faith, God will deliver us from any
and every situation because HE IS ABLE and He loves when a man trusts
Him implicitly and fully. It’s time we
shook out the cob-webs accumulated over our faith and yield to the steadfast
faith that God gives. We’ll surely see
His hand of deliverance; for remember God is able to deliver anytime, from any
situation. All He needs in us is TRUST.
