Thoughts for another day
Dec.
18, 2012.
Today's verse: Jer. 17:10. I the LORD search the heart, I
try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his
doings. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read
further. Thanks)
A man came to a rich young lady claiming
he was a sales agent; and over a period of time they became good friends with
the man ever making claims of how great he was and how bright his future was,
etc. The rich lady who was living alone
not only trusted him completely, but also started loving him and he too told
her he loved her and wanted to marry her.
A date was set and they had a private marriage ceremony. The surprising thing was, not a single person
from the man's family or friends, except for an old man, who was witness, were
there at the ceremony and the man explained it away saying he was an orphan and
new to the city, etc.
Within a week of the wedding the man
vanished with almost all the substantial wealth the lady kept at her home and
there was absolutely no trace of him. The
old man who was witness, confessed he knew nothing of the man and had witnessed
because he offered him a good sum of money.
Later, the police discovered that the man was a fraud, having married
seven women and with each, the story was the same. Does this sound familiar? We may say yes and if we think, we'll also
recall the various faces we see in our walk of life and also recognize the
pseudo characters we come across. Of
course, we may not agree that we too assume different personas to different
people at different times, perhaps to look better or maybe to seem more important
or some other reason. But the fact is,
most human beings are seldom what they seem on the surface, there's a scary
truth underneath to be discovered only when too late!
But, not so with the LORD; for He doesn't see the exterior, but the
inside. He can spot the least
blemish in us and He knows us far, far better than we know ourselves. He can gaze direct into our hearts and know
our every plan and our every move, for He is God and nothing is hidden from Him
and the best is, He rewards every man according to his ways which God knows accurately. My friend, never hide from the Lord, even the
least of your stains, rather go to Him with it and ask Him to clean it, He will
and He will also clothe you with spotless raiment.
